I am loving Windows Vista but am having two huge isses. My HP Pavilion dv4000 worked fine at first. However, now the speakers sometime work and sometime they don't. If I reboot, they will work but if I start doing a lot of work, then they will just quit unless I go to Device Manager. All I have to do is click troubleshoot and they will start working again. Of course, that is kind of an issue as I will get tired of doing that.
THE BIG ISSUE though is that my CD/DVD RW worked great for the first 4 hours of vista. Matter-of-fact, I used it to install all of my software on the Vista machine. However, now Vista can get the driver to work and I am stuck without a CD/DVD Player/Writer or anything. I can't even load up any more software. My device is Matshita UJ-840D. I can't even find a driver for it. Can anybody help me with this? I can't even reinstalll XP because it doesn't recognize my DVD player.

I had the same problem in Vista until I performed the upperfilters / lowerfilters fix from Windows XP in the registry. After I deleted them my DVD / CD drives all started working.... here's the link
